Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Postponement Update

As many of you are undoubtedly aware of by now, on 22nd March 2020, the International Olympic Committee and the Japanese Government made a statement about postponing the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and also as a result the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

In a joint press release, the President of the IOC and the Japanese Prime Minister stated:-

In the present circumstances and based on the information provided by the WHO today, the IOC President and the Prime Minister of Japan have concluded that the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community.

We therefore can confirm that the Tokyo 2020 Games have been merely postponed, NOT cancelled. As the IOC And Tokyo 2020 have stressed form the very beginning, the Games will NOT be cancelled, and have not been cancelled.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games new confirmed dates are as follows:

* The Olympic Games will be held between 23rd July and 8th August 2021

* The Paralympic Games will be held between 24th August and 5th September 2021

Tokyo 2020 (TOCOG) have advised that in they are currently working the transfer of tickets already purchased across to the new dates in 2021.

In the unlikely event that there are any sports schedule session time changes, we will communicate this to our existing clients.
Once the actual session schedules are published, we will get back to you with all of our clients in the following order
  • Package clients first to confirm your package as per your existing request
  • Hospitality and Ticket Bundle clients,then finally
  • Standalone Ticket only purchasers
If there are any issues, we will also then be able to address them with you.

However, it is our current expectation that the tickets and sessions will be the same in July 2021 as were scheduled for July 2020.
